River Ouse Bottle Throwing Competition
What do the boys from Strathearn CC do when the pubs and clubs are closed down in York , no they don't chase the Yorkshire ladies , the 1992 tourists went to the river Ouse and proceeded to see which of them could propel a bottle of Becks from one riverbank to the other. Needless to say McKinnie and Litster fell at the first attempt with their feeble throwing arms. After about 20 minutes and many side bets taken on who would succeed Duncan Marsh became another tour Legend by making the throw even though he may have gone through a half a crate in the process.
The Judge passes sentence (and often wind!)
When Duncan Marsh failed to return to the Red Lion Inn in York after being out all Saturday Night the tour committee considered dropping the all rounder for the match vs Goldsborough. Marshy eventually returned and played his bit in last years classic tied match. However, Marshy was not to get off lightly when tour Judge McPhee later fined him £20 for his misdemeanour, this was to be reduced to £5 If Marshy could down a pint of Guinness topped up with red wine in one. The local host provided the safety net of a bucket but need not have worried as Marshy, despite a few facial contortions, downed the beer.
