Report of league game
against Northern at Doo’cot park 5th
May 2001
Finally at Doo’cot park,
Northern had first use of the pitch when they were asked to bat first against
Strathearn. However some of their batsmen had little time to acclimatise as
they were quickly reduced to 7-4 inside the first six overs wickets
tumbled at regular intervals, Northern were indebted to Roy Simon to take them
to a respectable score. Coming in at 20-6 he helped the home side reach 69 all
out with a knock of 25. The only double figure score in the innings, which saw
all of the Strathearn bowlers share in the wickets.
In reply Strathearn lost
opener Stuart Morris in the second over as Northern applied the pressure in the
early overs, restricting Strathie to nine runs from the first 10 overs. However
they were unable to have further success as Gordon McKinnie (27 not out) and
Jonathon Hill (40 not out) saw the visitors home in the 25th over.
